Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Location: Dover, NH AVAILABLE Callie Callie is a petite, energetic, peppy girl! Approx 31lbs, 2 years old, good with dogs and kids. She may be a texas heeler? Definitely a cattle dog mix! She has that big herdy dog personality, we all know and love. She communicates well to say she needs to go potty and runs in her crate for meal time and to sleep at night. She's biddable and food motivated. Has been introducted to markers and basic training. She is great, up close with her foster brother whether in home or on walks but is leash reactive towards strange dogs and will need counter conditioning and socialization. Callie is loving and cuddly. She may chew if she is bored and on occasion may give a jumpy greeting. She is neutral to delivery vehicles, outdoor cats and horses! Callie is an adventurer at heart, can be flighty. A fenced yard would be great for her, using a slip lead or martingale for outtings, is fine as well. She's an amazing rescue who will be great as a hiking partner, sporting dog or a member of an active family. Follow her on sweetnspicydogs IG Callie is spayed, microchipped, on monthly preventatives and taking antibiotics for a lyme positive 4DX result in the south. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
