Description
Dog Breed: Wirehaired Fox Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). ONLY AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION IN NEW JERSEY AND LOCAL SURROUNDING AREAS!!! If your application is a possible match, a volunteer will get back to you within 48 hrs. No inquiries, please, without an application. This scruffy little boy is Benji. He is a one year old wire haired terrier mix. He was rescued from the streets of North Jersey. He was extremely shy and shutdown when he came to us. He has been in a wonderful foster home where he has been able to blossom into a wonderful little fluff ball. He loves to run around the yard and go on walks. He loves sunshine and a nice warm day. Although Benji lives in a home with other foster dogs, we believe he would do best in an adult only home as the only pet. He loves to be around his foster mom and would love to be doted on all day. His favorite spot is a couch or chair with a fluffy blanket to bury his head in. If you are interested in Benji, please go to bfdaaa to complete an application

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
