Dog Breed: Great Dane. Meet DeeDee Location: Kyle, TX DOB: 4/9/22 Meet DeeDee DeeDee is a beautiful, loving Great Dane with a heart as big as she is. She is incredibly devoted to her people and will happily follow you from room to room, always wanting to be close. If you're looking for a loyal companion, DeeDee is ready to be your shadow. While she can be demanding about her favorite neck rubs, her affectionate nature makes it impossible not to love her. She is low- to moderate-energy and enjoys being a couch potato, especially if it means cuddling up with her favorite person. She loves ear scratches, back rubs, and spending time with her family. DeeDee is also quite the comedian. One of her favorite activities is running through the house and sliding into the living room. Despite her size, she's surprisingly fast, and watching her play is guaranteed to make you smile. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is especially gentle with puppies. When she's ready to play, she'll bow down with her front legs stretched out, tail wagging furiously, inviting everyone to join the fun. She's played successfully with puppies of various sizes as well as adult male and female dogs. Although DeeDee would enjoy being the only "queen" of the household, she also appreciates having canine companions to play with. She has even met a cat and was more curious and playful than anything else. The cat, however, did not share her enthusiasm! DeeDee has lived in a busy, multi-generational home and has done well with children. She has been around an 18-month-old granddaughter and an 8-year-old grandson without any issues. She is gentle and respectful, often choosing to give little ones their space. With strangers, DeeDee is watchful and reserved at first. She isn't aggressive—just cautious until she determines that someone is okay. She is housebroken, crate trained, and rides well in the car. While she doesn't particularly enjoy going into her crate, she will do so when asked. She does best when crated while her family is away, as she has occasionally had accidents when left loose in the house. She is okay on a leash but would benefit from additional leash experience and training. DeeDee is spayed, current on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, and on monthly preventative medication. She enjoys chewing on safe, non-rawhide chew sticks and is generally a healthy girl, though she does have some tartar buildup on her back teeth. Loud noises such as fireworks can make her nervous. Having experienced instability and mistreatment in her past, DeeDee deserves a family that will provide her with patience, security, and unconditional love. Her ideal home would include people who are home often, a fenced yard where she can stretch her legs, and perhaps another friendly dog to play with. She may not be a puppy anymore, but she certainly knows how to act like one when the mood strikes. DeeDee is sweet, funny, affectionate, and endlessly devoted.
