Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Meet Mira — a devoted, peopleloving sweetheart who wants nothing more than to be your whole world. Mira lights up around her favorite humans and loves being part of your day, whether it’s running errands, going on adventures, or curling up on the couch. She’s wonderful in the car, walks beautifully on a leash, loves her toys, and takes treats with the gentlest manners. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who wants to be included in everything, Mira is ready to step into that role. Mira bonds deeply and thrives as the only pet in a calm home where she can soak up all the attention. She can be pushy with other dogs and does experience separation and kennel anxiety. She currently needs medications when being left alone and/or in a crate. She has been doing well on her current medication and benefits from enrichment like lick mats and Kongs. She has an adorable crooked smile from an old injury — a charming little quirk that doesn’t affect her quality of life and only makes her more endearing. In full transparency, Mira was involved in a minor incident in her foster home: while her foster was separating her from another dog during a tense moment, Mira reacted and delivered a bite. It did not break skin, but it’s important information for her future adopter. This behavior was situational and rooted in her discomfort around other dogs — not people — and further reinforces that Mira will do best as the only pet in a calm, structured home that does not keep her in a cage and is understanding of her separation anxiety. With humans, she has been nothing but affectionate, gentle, and deeply bonded. Mira is ready for someone who can offer stability, understanding, and love. In return, she’ll give you unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and a best friend who wants to be by your side through everything. Her adoption fee is fully sponsored by her foster. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
