Description

Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Welcome Bridgett to CCPAL foster program. Bridgett is a 6-year-old Shepherd/Lab mixed dog. She weighs 50 pounds. Bridgett is very smart, loyal and affectionate. She is very motherly and likes to like and mother the cat in her home. She and her sister live with an older couple. The man has a health situation which makes him unsure of his life expectancy. He is now looking for Sadie and her sister to have a new forever home. Bridgett knows hand commands. She knows sit, stay and is good in a car. She is good with dogs, cats, kids and strangers. They are protective when they bond with their people and will alert you if there is a problem. They would be great for a senior or someone wanting a dog with training and that is smart. She is afraid of storms but is fine as long as she is inside with her people. She can hop over a 4-foot fence. She will need a 6 foot or she would fine in a dog park or on walks. She is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 400 and transport is $200. . Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Overview:

The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
