Description
Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff. Meet Cora, a stunning young Cane Corso girl who is still very much a baby at just around 10 months old and 61 lbs. She arrived at a local shelter as a stray, underweight and needing care. Despite her size, Cora has a soft, thoughtful presence. At the shelter, she was even trusted as a greeter dog, calmly meeting new dogs and helping welcome them in with her easygoing, polite demeanor. Cora is currently in a temporary foster, but she needs her next home urgently. She enjoys other dogs, especially those who are comfortable with her playful energy and don’t mind her large puppy enthusiasm at her size. She would do best with dog companions who are confident and tolerant as she continues to learn her manners. She will be spayed once she gains a bit more weight and is in a healthier place physically. Cora is truly just beginning her journey and is looking for a foster or adopter who can help her grow into the amazing dog she’s meant to be.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
