Meet Ava — 27 pounds of resilience, sweetness, energy, and second chances. Not long ago, Ava’s story could have ended very differently. She was spotted being pushed out of a car and left on the side of the road — confused, scared, and completely alone. Thankfully, a kind-hearted finder scooped her up, held her close, and gave her the safety she so desperately needed. From there, Ava’s new chapter began. Despite the betrayal she experienced, Ava always chooses love. Ava is affectionate, trusting, and incredibly people-focused. She bonds quickly, leans in for comfort, and seems to understand that better days are ahead. She is playful, social, and full of life, with adorable features that hint at a corgi/cattle dog mix. Ava is an energetic girl who loves to run, play, explore, and have fun. Because of that, she would do best in a home with a fenced yard where she can safely burn off energy and enjoy herself. She is not the type of dog who wants to be cooped up all day — she wants a family who will include her, engage with her, and give her the exercise and enrichment she deserves. Ava also really enjoys the company of other dogs and could definitely benefit from having a dog brother or sister. A playful, friendly canine companion would be a wonderful match for her and could help her continue to build confidence, learn routines, and enjoy the kind of companionship she clearly loves. Ava is also cat friendly, but with an important note: she does like to chase cats in a playful way. Because of this, she would do best with a confident, playful cat who enjoys the company of dogs and is not easily intimidated. A dog-savvy cat who is comfortable setting boundaries would be the best fit. Ava does very well with kids and absolutely adores the neighborhood children who come by to play — tail wagging, ready for fun, and soaking up every bit of attention. She is loving and social, but she can be enthusiastic with her affection and likes to “hug,” so very small children may not be the best fit simply because she could accidentally knock them over. Dog-savvy kids who are steady on their feet would likely be a great match. While Ava has plenty of energy, she also knows how to settle down. After playtime, she is happy to relax, soak up affection, and enjoy being near her people. She has a beautiful balance of playful and sweet, active and snuggly. Ava is fixed, micro-chipped, and up to date on vaccines. Her adoption donation is $500. - Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home.
