Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Adoption Fee: $500. ____________________________________________________________ Coordinator Chris Wood Fridge - remember the linebacker? Or the appliance in your kitchen? Or maybe the character from the Jumanji movie? This young man can imitate them all! Runs and plays hard. Eats like a… well, like a young Malinois who needs all the extra calories to burn. His name will remind you to keep your refrigerator, cabinets, and pockets full of tasty treats. He’s a work in progress, growing into the wonderful Malinois he was meant to be. Fridge is estimated to be just over a year old , is friendly with other dogs his size, LOVES playing with other dogs - he’s fully integrated into the large foster pack, and thinks the crate command can mean in his crate or on top of the crate beside his! He will make you laugh daily unless you are not fulfilling his needs for play and training. That’s when he could make you cry! Fridge is a young, exuberant boy who is neutered and ready for his forever. He is heartworm negative and up to date on preventions and vaccines. He needs continued obedience training, but the other dogs in his foster home are teaching him how to play tug. His forever person should be able to use that as a reward during training time and to bond with him through play. Fridge will settle in a crate or a 5 X 10 kennel run. He will settle while crated in the car as long as it is moving. But if you are stopped in traffic, he will let you know that he is as frustrated as you are. On his transport from FL to TN, calming music helped with this, but ear plugs are not a bad idea. Fridge would like you to know his lungs are young and healthy, too. Fridge will need a physically fenced yard. While he respects the fence with you and his packmates inside, his Good Samaritan did discover Malinois athleticism while taking out the trash. Fridge decided he preferred to help and didn’t want to be in the yard alone, so he joined his temporary human on the other side of the 6 ft. privacy fence. No open gate needed. Fridge is an awesome young Malinois who is probably more than the average pet owner is looking for. If you are a first time Malinois owner or you’ve only had more laid back Malinois, you will need to have a trainer lined up, a fenced yard, and a training and exercise routine set before applying. If you are well seasoned in the world of Malinois, he will be a fun addition to your home. Fridge is a thinker, a mover, and a shaker. If you are looking for a vibrant, young Malinois, he is your dream come true. Fridge’s Special Notes: He is not cat, chicken, rabbit, rodent, or other small animal tested. He is not fully kid tested, so only families with children age 10+ will be considered. Inquiries for Fridge can be directed to Coordinator Chris Wood at cwoodmalinoisrescue . Please CC Assistant Coordinator Beth Sorenson at bsorensonmalinoisrescue . ABMR thanks you for taking the time to look at our malinois available for adoption.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
