Brooks is a 3-month-old hound mix blessed with magnificently floppy ears that deserve their own fan club. With soulful brown eyes that could melt the hardest heart and a face more handsome than he has any right to be, this boy is basically a puppy influencer waiting to happen. Brooks has mastered the ancient art of "selective bone structure"—solid and sturdy during walks and playtime, but somehow able to transform into a puddle of pure liquid love the moment he hits your lap. Scientists are baffled. Your couch cushions will be occupied indefinitely. The dogs are in fact living in a kennel environment during their time with us. Even if they have previously lived in a home and been trained - the stress of the change and the new home can sometimes cause regression and require some additional training. All animals come spayed/neutered, UTD on vaccines, and microchipped. If the animals age or health prevents any of these from being completed prior to adoption a voucher is issued for the services to be performed. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
