Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (medium coat). MEET MARIGOLD! My friends describe me as: Enthusiastic, cuddly, playful Marigold is a delightful young dog who weighs only around 50lbs, named for her beautiful golden eyes. She is potty trained, walks fantastic on leash (though she can get a bit excited at times), and is friendly with all she meets. This active girl would benefit from long walks and enrichment to help her feel fulfilled, as she will sometimes choose her own adventure if she is left up to her devices. If you are able to open up your home to give a special girl a new lease on life, please come meet her! Marigold is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on Marigold or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
