Description
Dog Breed: Shih Tzu / Maltese / Mixed (long coat). Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying. Thank you for your cooperation. NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 6/17/2026: Fuzzy Wuzzy - male - 10 weeks old - 5.8 pounds - Shih Tzu/ Maltese mix Reason for intake: Fuzzy Wuzzy came in with Cupcake. We were contacted by the daughter-in-law of an elderly couple. The husband is fighting a health crisis and the puppies are adding to the stress this poor family is going through. Please no negative comments. This was an emotional surrender. We will not adopt them out together. The male hovers over the female and she and he need a home of their own. We will post them for adoption soon but they can't leave until they receive their second round of vaccinations. Stay tuned! NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS: Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed. Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining. In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason. We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption. In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered. Please note… we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption. Please wait until the dog is available for adoption. We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link: .facebook/share/1B46skRWF5/ OR you can keep checking our website at .roadtorescuela. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~ Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life. Blessings.

More About Mal-Shi BreedOverview:
The Mal-Shi, a charming designer breed, is a delightful cross between the gentle Maltese and the affectionate Shih Tzu. Originating from the desire to combine the best traits of both parent breeds, the Mal-Shi is typically a small, sturdy companion dog, rarely exceeding 15 pounds. Their physical characteristics often include a soft, wavy to curly, hypoallergenic-friendly coat that sheds minimally, requiring regular grooming to prevent matting. Common coat colors range from white, cream, and black to various shades of brown and brindle. Temperament-wise, Mal-Shis are renowned for being incredibly sweet, playful, and intelligent, making them highly trainable and eager to please. They thrive on human companionship and are generally excellent with children and other pets, making them a fantastic choice for families and individuals alike. Their adaptability, coupled with their moderate exercise needs, makes them well-suited for apartment living. While generally healthy, potential health considerations include respiratory issues common to brachycephalic breeds (if the Shih Tzu parent has a very flat face), patellar luxation, and eye conditions. Regular veterinary check-ups are crucial for maintaining their well-being.
