Description
Dog Breed: Beagle / Pug / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 300. Meet KEATS, a happy-go-lucky Beagle mix looking for a home. He is the sweetest boy, always so happy to meet new friends, play and cuddle. Keats is about 4 years old and fully grown at 23 pounds. We believe he's a puggle-type mix, probably more beagle than pug but he has those adorable flippy puggle ears. Keats walks well on a leash, is a perfect passenger in the car and appears to be housebroken. Unfortunately Keats was bitten by the wrong mosquito and has tested positive for heartworms. PLEASE KEEP YOUR DOGS ON HEARTWORM PREVENTION!! It's not a severe case and he will be undergoing treatment with our vet. He's fine to go to a home and poses no threat to the health of animals or people. He does need to go to a greater Cincinnati-area home in order to accommodate his treatment which will be paid for by the rescue. Keats is fine with other dogs and loves everyone he meets. If you'd like to meet Keats, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Keats at our weekly adoption event, Saturday 11:30am-1:30pm at Petsmart Eastgate. Keats will go to an adoptive home on an extended trial adoption basis, his adoption will be finalized after he completes his treatment. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Puggle, a charming cross between a Beagle and a Pug, originated in the 1980s as a designer breed in the United States, quickly gaining popularity for its unique blend of traits. Physically, Puggles typically sport a sturdy, muscular build with a short, smooth coat that comes in various colors, often resembling the Beagle's tri-color or the Pug's fawn with a black mask; their floppy ears and expressive eyes are unmistakable. Temperamentally, they are known for being friendly, affectionate, and generally good-natured, inheriting the Beagle's playful curiosity and the Pug's laid-back charm, though they can possess a stubborn streak. This makes them excellent family pets, adaptable to both houses with yards and apartment living, provided they receive regular exercise. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of predispositions to conditions like hip dysplasia, patellar luxation, and respiratory issues, common in their parent breeds, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
