Description
Dog Breed: Hound (short coat). Adoption Fee: $525-$650 + MN tax. Buck is a sweet CoonHound (or Hound) that was scheduled to be euthanized, in a tiny rural pound in Southestern Kentucky that only has 6 kennels and is forced to euthanize (or send to the bigger pound for euthanization upon intake) when there kennels get full. Buck is such a "chill, cool dog." He is really very mellow and quiet for a Hound dog! We would describe him as "stoic" right now, with little glimpses of emotion from time to time. He has probably lived outside in Kentucky, (and was found wandering along the side of a road for a while, with no owner claiming him), but he has not had one accident in the house and seems to "get" routines and structure. He crates very well and is super content to plop down in a dog bed near you, and just hang and chill while you get your work done. If you love Hounds but would prefer a more mellow one, Buck could be your boy! He is good with other dogs, very chill with them and he seems to be Ok with a cat. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds.
