Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Australian Kelpie. Meet Harper! ð¾ Harper is a sweet, gentle girl looking for a calm and quiet forever home to call her own. At 2 years old and weighing around 25â30 pounds, this adorable shepherd mix has so much love to give. Harper can be a little shy when meeting new people and experiencing new situations, but with patience, understanding, and time, she truly blossoms into a loving and loyal companion. She thrives in a peaceful environment where she can build confidence at her own pace. One thing that would make Harper especially happy is having another friendly dog in her forever home. She enjoys canine companionship and would benefit from a confident dog friend to help show her the ropes. If you're looking for a kind-hearted companion and are willing to give her the time she needs to settle in, Harper could be the perfect addition to your family. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. Our dogs are also heartworm negative (or we will cover their treatment). To start the process please visit our website and fill out the adoption application (.dfwrescueme) and from there the foster family can answer any questions and arrange a time to meet.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
