Description
Dog Breed: American Eskimo Dog. Please contact Cheryl (lovemy4eskiesgmail) for more information about this pet. Meet puppy Wyatt. This handsome eskie boy just arrived with his dad Tucker and sibling Whiskey from GA (6/20/2026). They were surrendered due to their owners' health and life circumstances. See the attached video below - caution - extreme cuteness! Wyatt is not housetrained and we are working on that. He is also not leash trained but also working on that. He seems to do best with a harness and a leash vs collar and leash. Wyatt loves to play with toys and do zoomies in the yard. He tries to play with the resident senior dog but does not always get his way. Due to his young age he either needs to be in a family that is active and will entertain him or have another young fur baby to play with. I really think he needs a playmate or play dates a couple days a week. Wyatt does need socialization but I believe due to his young age he will do just fine with the right home with patience. He is not exposed to young children so I would say children under the age of 8 may not be a good idea. He does not seem to be bothered by thunderstorms at least for now. He knows sit but we are working on other commands. He loves to snuggle and will sleep through the night curled up with you. He loves to give kisses and he loves his treats. Wyatt is in an exercise pen when his foster mom is at work and seems to do pretty well in there with keeping it clean. If you would like to chat about Wyatt please email his foster mom at lovemy4eskiesgmail. Wyatt was born on Feb 18th, 2026. He is currently 20 lbs. Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers. There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Overview:
The American Eskimo Dog, often affectionately called an "Eskie," is a charming and intelligent spitz-type breed originating from Germany, despite its misleading name. These beautiful dogs come in three sizes—toy, miniature, and standard—all boasting a striking white double coat, erect ears, and a plumed tail curled over their back. Known for their alert and friendly disposition, Eskies are highly trainable and excel in activities like agility and obedience, reflecting their history as circus performers. Their energetic and playful nature makes them wonderful family companions, though early socialization and consistent training are crucial. While adaptable to apartment living if given sufficient exercise, they thrive with a yard and an active lifestyle. Owners should be mindful of potential health issues such as hip and elbow dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy, and luxating patellas. With proper care and attention, American Eskimo Dogs are loyal, loving pets that bring joy to their families.
