Description
Dog Breed: American Eskimo Dog. Please contact Heidi (heidieskierescuers) for more information about this pet. Meet Tucker. This handsome eskie boy just arrived with his sons Wyatt and Whiskey from GA (6/20/2026). They were surrendered due to their owners' health and life circumstances. Tucker will be vetted on the 29th (neuter, vaccines, SNAP4DX, etc.) and will then be available for adoption. See the attached video below - caution - extreme cuteness! Here is what his owner says about Tucker: "Tucker is loyal, intelligent, alert and very aware of his surroundings. He can be vocal and protective when he notices activity around the home. He does best with structure, routine, patience, and clear expectations. Tucker has lived with multiple dogs and is used to being around other eskies. He enjoys outdoor time, being with people, and having room to move, play, and explore. He would do best in a home that understands active, intelligent dogs and can give him attention, exercise, and consistency. Tucker has never biten, and has never shown aggression to adults or children. Tucker has a gentle, loving personality and enjoys attention and affection. He has been around adults and children and has always been kind and gentle. Tucker's nature is loving, loyal, and trustworthy." Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers. There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Overview:
The American Eskimo Dog, often affectionately called an "Eskie," is a charming and intelligent spitz-type breed originating from Germany, despite its misleading name. These beautiful dogs come in three sizes—toy, miniature, and standard—all boasting a striking white double coat, erect ears, and a plumed tail curled over their back. Known for their alert and friendly disposition, Eskies are highly trainable and excel in activities like agility and obedience, reflecting their history as circus performers. Their energetic and playful nature makes them wonderful family companions, though early socialization and consistent training are crucial. While adaptable to apartment living if given sufficient exercise, they thrive with a yard and an active lifestyle. Owners should be mindful of potential health issues such as hip and elbow dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy, and luxating patellas. With proper care and attention, American Eskimo Dogs are loyal, loving pets that bring joy to their families.
