Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Haile (pronounced Hail but with an added e). is located in the Atlanta GA area. She a 4 month old belgian malinois female that was a stray living on the streets for 3-4 weeks. She was fed by a good samaritan that would let her come and go through her fence. She is very scared, and spent the first week in foster care decompressing. She is a runner, and will find that very small breach in your fence to try to escape. This means, she is always on a long line and gets a "police escort" anytime she is outside until the foster human can form a bond with her and show her that she is finally safe and doesn't need to survive on her own. She is already crate trained, and sleeps throughout the night without complaint. She rides nicely in a vehicle crated, is very dog friendly and recently learned that the dogs that look like her are her best friends. She is working on housebreaking and proved that she is very smart and will whimper and stand up in her crate when she wants to go outside. She is now playing with toys and chewing on yummy bones. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
