Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. My friend found a sable/red colored Husky Thursday night on Pioneer Road in Mesquite and she cannot care for this dog, as she already takes care of her senior father and a senior German Shepherd who needs considerable mobility assistance. “Nala” is young, maybe 2-3 years. She's well-mannered, quiet and a very sweet dog. She’s a little skittish about a leash, but just needs more gentle practice, I think. I posted in the Mesquite sub-Reddit here: .reddit/r/MesquiteTX/s/F8O9e4B1Q9 (Apparently, she's well known in the neighborhood so the owners can't be trusted.) My friend cannot foster for long. Please let me know if you or someone you know is interested. Thank you! **** Breed: SIBERIAN HUSKY **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2199838&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
