Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 250. Meet Twiggles! At about 6 months old, Twiggles has overcome so much from being found as a stray and overlooked in an overcrowded shelter. Since coming to his foster, he’s made incredible progress and is growing into a happy, playful, and loving puppy. These days, Twiggles is filling out, growing into his long, lanky legs, and letting his personality shine. He has the sweetest disposition and his entire body wiggles when he wags his tail! His joy is contagious! Twiggles loves other dogs and would happily spend all day playing with canine friends. He’s also wonderful with kids and enjoys being part of the action. He hasn’t been tested with cats yet. Like many young puppies, he’s still learning all his good boy skills, but he’s eager to please and making progress with training. Twiggles is a resilient, affectionate boy who has come a long way in just a short time in a loving foster home. Now he’s ready for a forever family that will continue helping him grow into the amazing dog he’s meant to be. If you’re looking for a sweet, goofy companion with endless love to give, Twiggles is waiting to meet you… apply to adopt him today! All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
