Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Location; Rockland, ME. Meet Romeo! What a heartbreaker of a cattle dog mix ! He is about 12 weeks old and about 12 pounds. He is an energetic dog who loves to play with other dogs and is also able to auto-entertain . Because he is a puppy, sometimes he auto-entertains with your shoes! He is shy around humans at first but is learning to play with humans and enjoys a good snuggle once he gets sleepy. He is learning so much each day. He is learning to come when called and is working on housebreaking but still has some accidents . He is learning to walk on a leash and sleeps all night in a crate with no messes . He even puts himself to bed in his crate. He will bark at cats, but just because he is unfamiliar and wants to play with them. He has enjoyed playing with young children. Cattle dogs are high energy dogs who know they are equal members of the family. He would be a great running/hiking buddy. H e would not be happy being left in a yard by himself . He would love to have a dog sibling. He was found as a stray in Georgia with h is mom and siblings . He is up to date on immunizations , has been neutered and been on flea and tick medicine as well as heartworm preventative. He is being fostered in midcoast Maine. Please contact cknight0gmail . A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
