Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Quinn is a sweet girl who is currently with our partner rescue in Louisiana but hoping to come to NJ soon. We do offer a foster-to-adopt trial to approved adopters. Quinn is a 1.5-year-old sweetheart with a playful spirit and so much love to give. She came to the shelter through a cruelty case, but you’d never know it from her happy, energetic personality—she’s ready to leave the past behind and start fresh. Quinn loves to run, play, and stretch her legs, so she’d likely thrive with an active family or a home with a fenced yard where she can really enjoy herself. We’re still getting to know her, but one thing is clear—this girl is full of potential and just waiting for someone to give her the life she deserves. Quinn tested negative for heartworm and up to date on vaccines. She will need to be spayed and microchipped when she arrives to NJ, this will require a trip to our spay/neuter clinic in Holmdel, which we cover. Her adoption donation is $500. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
