Description
Dog Breed: Mastiff / Labrador Retriever / Mixed. Meet Nutmeg! Location: Brook Park, OH DOB: 5/16/24 Nutmeg is a sweet, happy-go-lucky girl whose favorite thing in the world is being with her people. She absolutely loves giving kisses and will happily lounge at your feet, soaking up all the attention she can get. Nutmeg is housebroken, crate trained, and does very well in a crate. She's also a great passenger once she's in the car, though getting her into a vehicle can take a little encouragement. She enjoys going for walks, but she's not an especially high-energy dog—one walk a day is plenty for this laid-back girl. She is not yet leash trained and is currently working through treatment for a gunshot wound to her leg, which may affect her comfort and activity level. Humans are definitely Nutmeg's favorite. She has never met a stranger and loves everyone she encounters. While she can live with other dogs, she's somewhat selective about her canine companions and may be more tolerant when she's feeling comfortable and pain-free. She currently lives with a much larger female Great Dane and does well, and she has also met a larger male Great Dane successfully. She would likely thrive as either an only dog or in a home with a compatible canine companion. One quirky thing about Nutmeg: she's a toy thief! She loves collecting toys and can be protective of them, so a home that manages toys carefully and provides separate toys for multiple dogs would be ideal. Nutmeg has not yet been tested with children or cats. Nutmeg is currently heartworm positive and undergoing treatment, and she is also receiving care for the gunshot wound she sustained to her leg. Despite these challenges, she remains a loving, affectionate girl who is ready to shower her future family with endless love and companionship. If you're looking for a devoted best friend who wants nothing more than to be loved and return that love tenfold, Nutmeg may be the perfect match for you. =============================================================================== To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! form.jotform/51994996709176 . Breed overview
Overview:
The Mastador is a compelling hybrid, blending the robust nature of the Mastiff with the amiable disposition of the Labrador Retriever. Originating from designer breed initiatives, this cross aims to combine the best traits of its powerful parents. Physically, Mastadors are large to giant-sized dogs, boasting a muscular build and a dense, often short coat, with colors varying widely depending on their lineage. Their temperament is typically a delightful mix of the Mastiff's gentle loyalty and the Lab's playful affection, making them surprisingly gentle giants. They are generally good with families, including children, but their size necessitates supervision and early socialization. Due to their substantial size and need for moderate exercise, apartment living is not ideal; a home with a yard is preferable. Prospective owners should be aware of potential health concerns common to large breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, bloat, and certain heart conditions, necessitating regular veterinary check-ups and a high-quality diet.
