Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). Nala's story has come full circle. She first came to us as a young puppy alongside her sisters, Storm A048826 and Raven A048827. A rescue had already agreed to take all three through our transport program, but the person who found them decided to adopt all three pups instead. Nearly a year later, all three girls have been surrendered back to the shelter through no fault of their own. It's easy to see that Nala is still trying to figure everything out now. She’ll quietly make her way over to say hello. She wants to be close to people, but she's nervous. Loud noises make her freeze, and when you first reach out to pet her, she may flinch or hunker down. Even so, she never pulls away. She patiently lets you pet her, as if she's trying so hard to trust. She seems to feel most confident on leash. She walks beautifully without pulling and will happily follow wherever you lead. Nala is also happy to entertain herself and doesn't demand constant attention. She isn't interested in showing off tricks or chasing treats right now - she's simply looking for someone who will let her settle in at her own pace. With a little patience, a quiet home, and lots of gentle reassurance, we think the scared pup hiding inside Nala will blossom into an incredibly sweet companion. If you're willing to give her the time she needs, she'll reward you with something truly special: the trust of a dog who's been waiting for someone to believe in her.
