Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. In hands of Stanislaus Co Animal Shelter for adoption Pet id #A611533. 2yrs dob 3/9/2024. 68#. Spade,All shots current.House trained (Christmas door bells and 'potty potty' on command), crate, leash, walk, heel, sit and car trained. Responds to 'relax'. Excellent guardian girl! Loves our friends. No strangers can come near if she does not recognize them. Security excellent. Loving lap dog, devoted, all the typical 'wants to be with us every second' Rottie traits. Still tends to jump when wants to play but responds to 'off' for correction in most areas. Still work in progress. Has developed protectiveness of me and my husband and 4yr old, vs her sister Morkie;also 2 years, our teen grandchildren visiting and strangers who have fears of animals.. Roxie when senses unsure. Requires firm 'Alpha' handling. We now had to segregate her and she cries whines to play with them all but her protective nature is stronger. Not fair to her to keep her segregated. She needs her new people to love and be devoted to. **** Breed: Rottweiller **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2199354&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
