Dog Breed: Unknown breed. I’m Lo Lo, a 3-ish year old pitty mix rescued from euthanasia with a lot of love and a lot of energy! I’m looking for my human bestie and, because of my high energy, would do best as an only dog. While I love other dogs, my energy levels often overwhelms them and has led to fights with my fur-brothers. I love my kitty sister too, but my human worries I might accidentally hurt her. I am neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. I spent 6 months in Columbia Animal Services before I was rescued on my euthanasia day. Recently, I’ve been resource guarding my food bowl from my senior fur brother. I’ve picked a few fights. That said, I really just want the love of my humans and lots of playtime and cuddles. I love my kennel and am potty trained, and I loooooove treats and am easy to train. I know sit, look, leave it, lay down, here, and my favorite command, treat! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
