Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). #A5779183 Olive is a compact but strong girl who is so easy to handle! Cooperative and eager to please, Olive is a 4 year old female Pitbull with big beautiful eyes full of love. Curious and appropriate with other dogs in the next play yard, we think she would probably be ok with other dogs with proper introductions. On her photo day she was delighted to spend time with our volunteers and explore the yard. Olive is happy to hang out with people and get lots of cuddles and attention. -Very pretty light/dilute brindle coat with a white snout -May have some itchiness in her skin that would benefit from a good diet to prevent allergies -About 40 pounds when she came in which seems a little underweight so she’s getting extra feeding at the shelter -Not yet spayed when we met her so that will likely need to be done before she can go home -Came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on May 27 as a stray OLIVE’S VIDEO: youtube/shorts/upvOWYujJFg For more information, contact volunteer Lisa at lisaaunitedhopeforanimals Photo Credit: jsumphotography Look up this or other animals at Baldwin Park Animal Care Center animalcare.lacounty.gov/view-our-animals/ Use their unique ID NUMBER. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
