Description
Dog Breed: Beagle. Adoption Fee: $300.00. ADOPTION PENDING Marigold is delightfully conversational, especially when you are paying her some attention. She likes to talk when she gets lovins. Affection from people is really her thing, although she is just fine with the other dog in her foster home. When he tries to play with her she is very submissive and shows him her belly. She may become more confident over time. She has also done well with a cat and we have videoed a little conversation she attempted to engage him in LOL. She will chase a rabbit or a squirrel though. House training is coming along much better now that foster mom has learned Marigold's cues. She enjoys sleeping in the bed at night along with the other dog and the cat. She has been crated and does reasonably well although she will cry a bit. Once when left out of the crate she did tear up some paper -- a minor offense. :) Marigold appears to have a moderate to low energy level, does not seem interested in toys at all, is not super food motivated and although she likes being outside is always glad to come back in where her human is. We think the best home from Marigold will be a calm one where she gets a lot of affection. She is heartworm negative and ready for her sleepover.

Overview:
The Beagle is a beloved scent hound with a rich history, originally bred in England for hunting hare and rabbit. Their most recognizable physical traits include a sturdy, compact build, adorable floppy ears, and soulful brown or hazel eyes. Beagles typically weigh between 18-30 pounds and stand 13-16 inches tall, featuring a smooth, dense coat that comes in a variety of tri-color or bi-color patterns. In terms of temperament, they are known for being exceptionally friendly, curious, and outgoing, making them wonderful companions for families with children and other pets. However, their strong prey drive and inclination to follow interesting scents mean they require a securely fenced yard and consistent leash training. While adaptable, their need for exercise and tendency to vocalize (howl!) makes them less ideal for small apartment living unless daily walks and mental stimulation are guaranteed. Regarding health, Beagles can be prone to certain conditions like hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and intervertebral disc disease, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups important.
