Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog. At only 13 weeks old, our sweet Cleo has already woven herself into the fabric of her foster home, winning over the resident shepherds with her gentle spirit. Her glossy black coat, accented by warm brown streaks along her neck and shoulders, makes her truly unforgettable. If you are drawn to the magic of darker shepherds, Cleo might just be your perfect match. She is gentle, takes baths like a pro, has left her street days behind, and absolutely loves to snuggle. She sleeps through the night in her crate, with one quick potty break midway through, and is very smart. She’s already grasped the sit command with enthusiasm. Just like her littermate, Apollo, Cleo has also recovered from an upper respiratory infection from her stay at the shelter. These pups were picked up by Animal Control and unclaimed by their original people. Cleo is a social butterfly who delights in the company of other dogs and brings a dash of playful mischief to every day. As her adult teeth come in, she appreciates gentle reminders to chew on her toys rather than your shoes or the couch. Luckily, she already knows how to listen when you say “no”. Her ear tips seem to have a mind of their own, changing direction each day, and we are eagerly waiting for the moment when they finally stand tall as they should. Please help us spread the word about Cleo and Apollo, two wonderful pups who were once overlooked and homeless, so they can finally find the loving families they have always deserved. Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
