Description
Dog Breed: Husky (medium coat). #A5682339 Zeek is a 3-year-old neutered male Alaskan Husky with a stunning grey and white coat and a gentle, inquisitive nature This 66 lb boy was an owner surrendered with no notes, and it's hard to understand why. Zeek is calm, affectionate, and loves spending time with people. He'll even climb partway into your lap for pets and scratches, soaking up attention whenever he can. Like any Husky, Zeek enjoys activity and will need regular exercise, but he also has a sweet, easygoing side. He walks nicely on leash and is tolerant of other dogs, especially calm companions. While he can show some barrier reactivity, he does best with patient introductions and respectful dog friends. Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
