Description

Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). #A5778532 June Bug is a 4-year-old spayed female German Shepherd with a beautiful tan, shaggy coat and a personality that's equal parts grandma and puppy This 63 lb girl came in as a stray and is looking for a loving home where she can finally relax and be cared for. June Bug loves balls, knows "sit," and takes treats gently. She walks nicely on leash and has a low-to-medium energy level, making her a wonderful companion for someone looking for a sweet, easygoing dog. She may not have had much dog socialization in the past, but she may just need guidance and positive experiences. June Bug is currently being treated for skin and respiratory issues and will go home on a health waiver. Overview:

The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
