Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Husky (short coat). A5781637 Paloma -1-year-old female -Spayed & Microchipped ✅ -Shepherd / Husky mix, black & brown -Weighed 53 lbs on 6/15 -Owner surrender (family moved) Paloma came from a loving home and now she's scared, confused, and heartbroken . She went from everything she knew to a loud, overwhelming shelter environment — and she is doing her best to make sense of it all. She won't take treats yet. She just wants to go home . But underneath that fear is a sweet, sensitive girl who is so worth the patience it will take to earn her trust . She lit up when she saw her former housemate at the shelter — yelping and straining to get to them . This is a dog who loves deeply and bonds hard. She just needs someone to show her she is safe, that this is not the end of her story but the beginning of a beautiful new chapter . She walks well on leash, has medium energy, and is a little shy but appropriate with other dogs . She needs a patient, nurturing adopter who will take their time and let her heal . Paloma has so much love to give — she just needs to believe it's safe to give it again ✨. Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
