Description
Dog Breed: Boxer (short coat). Adoption Fee: $267.19 includes all applicable MN sales tax. Prince found himself at an overfull shelter in Lousiville, KY after being picked up as a stray. We received some back story on him through mutual contacts and learned his real name so we kept that :) After his stray hold was up at the shelter, we were able to get him moved straight to the vet clinic to start medications for an upper respiratory infection. Once he is feeling better, we will get the rest of his routine vetting done, get bloodwork run, and get him scheduled for neuter surgery and microship implant. We know that Prince formerly lived with a younger Boxer boy (his son) and he dog tested well at the shelter. We don't yet how he is with kids and he has not been cat tested. With everyone at the shelter, with his trasnsport driver and with everyone at the clinic, he has been very very sweet! Please check back soon for updates on this gorgeous sealed reverse brindle boy!!

Breed overview
Boxer
A.K.A.: Deutscher Boxer, German Boxer, Dutch Boxer, Boxer dog, Boxy, Boxerman
Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
