Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Mulberry, the adorable white female Chihuahua pup! This cutie-pa-tootie arrived to the Shelter as a stray so we don’t know about her life before now. Staff observed that she was a bit shy upon arrival and wearing a pink harness and leash. She rolls over when getting attention and is otherwise whining for pets on her hind legs at the kennel doors. She has met other similarly sized dogs and coexisted nicely, although ultimately more interested in climbing into familiar human’s laps. Mulberry is still very much a puppy and sometimes goes to put her mouth on things that may not be puppy-approved such as cords and wires. Adopters should plan to puppy proof their house as well as provide ample appropriate toys and chews for Mulberry to focus her energy on. Mulberry may do well with another dog in the home or a cat with a slow, thoughtful introduction. Mulberry's adoption fee is sponsored by a good samaritan! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
