Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever (short coat). Adoption Fee: $100. Hi there, I’m Lady! I may have been left behind at a little church in Young Harris, but I haven’t lost my faith in people. I’m a gentle, loving girl—around a year old and about 45–55 pounds—with a shiny charcoal coat and the sweetest eyes you’ll ever see. Folks think I might be a Lab / Terrier mix, and honestly, that sounds just fine to me! I’ve been busy raising six adorable puppies—Brownie, Lemon, Blondie, Chunky, Missy, and Spot—and now it’s my turn to find a forever home where I can be someone’s baby instead of somebody’s mama. I’m friendly, affectionate, and grateful for every kind word and belly rub. I get along well with other dogs and love being part of a family. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s already learned the meaning of love, I’d be honored to meet you. Apply to adopt me: .safepetproject/adoption‑agreement Or leave me a message at 706‑400‑7076 ext. 2 — just ask for Lady!

Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
