Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. AN ADORABLE FRIEND: Approx. 12 years old / Approx. 16 lbs. Hi, I’m Luke! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and enjoyed my time with the nice volunteers there. I’ve been able to visit a few temporary foster homes and had fun in each of them! I’m in another wonderful foster home now and am ready to find a wonderful family of my very own, where I can love and be loved furever! I hope to meet them very soon and charm them with my cuteness and young spirit! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I’ve met other dogs in my foster homes and liked them very much. We hang out together, look out the windows to see what is going on, run around and sleep well together. So, if you have a sweet dog at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I met and liked the kids I met in one of my foster homes that were 6-11 years old, so if you have kids around these ages, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over or that may fall on me. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a sweet, calm, and friendly gentleman with a lovely low-key personality. I am a little apprehensive initially, but once you show me love I will be your favorite buddy! I am adjusting very well in my foster home. I am a little shadow to them. I was calm and cooperative during my bath, and while I appreciate a relaxed lifestyle, I also have a nice pep in my step and act younger than my age. I’m a wonderful companion looking for a loving home where I can enjoy living a good life. / Energy level: 4-5. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I know the ‘leave it’ command and how to accept friendly strangers without jumping on them and I look forward to learning more. I can be a little leash reactive on my walks, but it’s easily managed and the trainers at Mostly Mutts will be happy to go over this with you. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! / My crate manners were good at Mostly Mutts as well as in my temp. foster homes. I like being cozy in my crate. / My potty manners were good on the shelter schedule and have been very good in my foster homes—I do my business quickly when taken outside. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I enjoy going for walks and being outside with my family where I’m happy to take in the sights and smells. I also liked relaxing on a bench outside of Mostly Mutts while the nice volunteers pet me and spent time with me. Running around and snuggling with my fosters is great fun as well as playing with other friendly dogs! / Sometimes, sudden movements can startle me and like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on my annual vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. When I arrived, I needed a good dental cleaning, and during that procedure, 14 teeth had to be removed, leaving me with just 4 teeth. The good news is that it doesn’t bother me, and I do just fine with my adorable little smile! I also had a few masses removed from my abdomen and am all healed up from that surgery. I’m a wonderful fellow looking for a wonderful home and family! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
