Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Shar Pei / Mixed. Currently located at our Owensboro, KY location Meet Onni! Looking for a loyal companion? Meet Onni, our handsome 35-pound Terrier/Shar-Pei mix who's ready to find a family of his own. Onni was heartbreakingly dumped at our shelter a few weeks ago while we were closed, so we don't know much about his past. What we do know is that he's estimated to be 2–5 years old, is fully vetted, and is more than ready for a fresh start. Because of his behavior around other dogs at the shelter, we believe Onni would do best as the only dog in the home where he can soak up all the love and attention for himself. Could you be the person to give Onni the second chance he deserves? Apply to adopt today at itvrescue Please share to help Onni find the loving home he's been waiting for! All of our dogs are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped and spayed or neutered.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
