Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Poodle (unknown type) / Mixed (long coat). Coco is a gentle 3-year-old Yorkipoo with a big heart and a shy streak. She's not homeless by choice — her beloved owner passed away, and through no fault of her own, she lost the only person she'd ever trusted. Now she's looking for someone patient enough to become that person again. Coco takes real time to warm up, especially around men, and busy places like adoption events can be pretty overwhelming for her. But give her a few calm, quiet weeks and she'll reward you with a sweet, affectionate side that's well worth the wait. She loves playing with other dogs and has very refined taste in treats — beef jerky only, please! If you're looking for a loyal little shadow who just needs a soft place to land, Coco would love to meet you (slowly, on her own terms).

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
