Description
Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff / Mixed (medium coat). MEET BUBBA! This handsome man is Bubba, a large mixed-breed dog who is ready to make you his new best friend. Bubba was found as a stray, so we do not know what his life was like prior to coming to us but his sweet, friendly personality has definitely shown through! He would do best with older, sturdy kids as he can be a bouncy guy who does not realize just how strong he is. He has shown interest in other dogs here in the shelter, so may be OK living with another dog pending a dog meet. If you are interested in learning more about Bubba, stop by our Dedham shelter! My friends describe me as: Friendly, bouncy, outgoing Bubba is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY however, we are unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements. For more information on this or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston please visit us during our adoption center hours: Wednesdays-Sundays from 1:00PM â 6:00PM, Tuesdays by appointment only from 1:00PM â 6:00PM, closed Mondays & Holidays. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
