Description
Dog Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer (short coat). Millie is an 8 month old German Shorthaired Pointer, she currently weighs around 30 pounds. We are trying to help her family find her another home. They got her from the animal shelter when she was about 3 months old. She is up to date on vaccines, spayed and micro chipped. Millie loves to play with toys, enjoys long walks and is great in the car. The family is not home often and they haven't had time to work with her on potty training. She needs someone who is home more that can spend time with basic training and lots of playing. If you would like to meet Millie please fill out an application from our website.

Overview:
The German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP) is a versatile and elegant sporting breed, originating in 19th-century Germany where it was developed for hunting various game. Physically, GSPs are known for their athletic build, sleek coat (typically liver or liver and white), and intelligent, expressive eyes. They possess a strong, muscular physique that enables them to excel in diverse activities. Temperamentally, GSPs are energetic, intelligent, and highly trainable, making them excellent companions for active individuals or families. Their loyal and affectionate nature means they thrive on human interaction, but their high energy levels necessitate ample daily exercise to prevent boredom or destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their need for space and activity generally makes them less suitable for small apartment living unless their exercise requirements are exceptionally well-met. Regarding health, GSPs are a relatively robust breed, though they can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, eye conditions, and certain cancers. Responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups are crucial for maintaining their well-being.
