Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Meet General! This boy is ready to be your next best friend. Energetic and social, he’s great with other dogs and good with kids; his cat-compatibility is unknown. Neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, and heartworm test negative. He is gentle, affectionate, and curious. He’s not into squeaky toys, but give him a bowl or a bucket and he’ll happily parade around making a happy clanging soundtrack. Loves attention, easygoing on walks, and learns quickly. General was brought in by the Ripley County dog warden after he was found as a stray. He is a happy bouncy medium sized boy. Interested? Come say hello and see if his bucket-beat is your rhythm! If you would like to meet any of our pets, they are available for viewing, every single day from noon until 3:30pm. Calling before a long drive is recommended to confirm availability. Ripley County Humane Society, 1202 W County Rd 150 N, Osgood, IN 47037. 812-689-3773

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
