Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Dulce came to us after her owner was arrested, and sadly, no friends or family members came forward to claim her. After such a big change, itâs understandable that this sweet girl is feeling a little unsure of the world around her. For now, Dulce is a shy, independent girl who takes a little time to warm up. But you can tell sheâs actually really sweet! Dulce is happy to be pet, and after a moment she moves closer to you for more attention. She walks beautifully on a leash without pulling, and takes treats gently from your hand (if she takes the treat at all that is!). Sheâs not always interested in toys, and is mostly happy to amuse herself by calmly walking around and sniffing things. But when sheâs in the mood, she loves toys! She has a lower energy level, and weâre sure sheâll continue to blossom as she settles in. Sheâd love to blossom with you, as your new BFF!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
