Description

Dog Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier (medium coat). Meet Marcy. No dog should have to start life the way Marcy did.At only around a year old, this beautiful girl arrived at the shelter severely emaciated and in poor health. It was clear she hadn't received the love, care, or nourishment that every dog deserves. Despite everything she had been through, Marcy never gave up.Over the past month, she's been showered with proper medical care, good food, kindness, and plenty of affection. Watching her transform has been nothing short of incredible. The scared, underweight dog who walked through our doors has blossomed into a healthy, happy girl who is finally ready to start the next chapter of her life.Marcy is as sweet as they come. She absolutely adores people and wants nothing more than to be by your side, soaking up all the love and attention she can get. She recently participated in a dog meet and greet and did very well, showing us that she has a friendly, social side despite everything she's endured. Now all Marcy needs is a family who will show her what forever truly means. She's already survived the hardest part of her story. Let's make sure the rest of it is filled with soft beds, full bowls, belly rubs, and unconditional love.If you've been looking for a loyal best friend with a heart full of love and a second chance waiting to happen, Marcy is waiting to meet you. Help us give this incredible girl the happy ending she's always deserved. 52lbs If you are interested in meeting Marcy, please visit the shelter during open adoption hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 10 AM–12:30 PM & 2 PM–4 PM Thursday: 10 AM–12:30 PM & 2 PM–6:30 PM Saturday: 9 AM–1 PM If you do not own your home, please bring written consent from the property owner allowing a dog on the property. Staffordshire Bull Terrier

A.K.A.: Stafford, Staffy, English Staffy, Staffie, Nanny Dog
Overview:

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, affectionately known as a "Staffy," is a robust and agile breed originating from 19th-century England, bred for its strength and courage. Physically, they are compact and muscular, with a broad head, pronounced cheek muscles, and a short, smooth coat that comes in various colors. Despite their powerful appearance, Staffies are renowned for their affectionate and gentle nature, particularly towards children, earning them the nickname "nanny dog." They are intelligent, highly trainable, and thrive on human companionship, making them excellent family pets. Their relatively small size and moderate exercise needs mean they can adapt well to apartment living, provided they receive daily walks and mental stimulation. Generally a healthy breed, they can be prone to certain conditions like L-2-Hydroxyglutaric Aciduria (L2HGA), hereditary cataracts, and patellar luxation, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. With proper socialization and training, a Staffy will be a loyal, devoted, and entertaining companion.
