Description
Dog Breed: Corgi / Terrier / Mixed. Lincoln is a 3-month-old, 11-pound puppy with a sweet personality and an even sweeter face. Equal parts playful and affectionate, he's always up for an adventure but is just as happy curling up next to his favorite people when the day is done. His foster says Lincoln is curious, loving, and a total Velcro dog who wants to be wherever you are. Whether he's proudly carrying around a toy that's twice his size, wrestling with his dog friends, or snoozing after a busy day, he approaches everything with enthusiasm and joy. Lincoln is doing wonderfully with his crate routine, already knows "sit," and is making great progress with his puppy manners. He's friendly with dogs, cats, kids, and everyone he meets, making him an easy fit for many families. As he continues to grow, we expect Lincoln to stay on the smaller side of medium-sized, making him the perfect companion for everything from neighborhood walks and weekend outings to lazy afternoons at home. More than anything, he's looking for a family that wants a best friend to share everyday life with. One of Lincoln's cutest features is his adorable little overbite, and when he first arrived at the shelter, his upright ears had everyone convinced he might be a Corgi mix. While we don't know exactly what breeds make up this handsome boy, we do know he's full of love and ready to find a forever home of his own.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
