Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $350.00. Hi! I'm Chim Chim 'cause I'm twice the fun. My personality is outgoing, intelligent and sweet. As you can see in my pictures I'm a 4 month old heeler mix. I will be a medium size dog based on the puppy calculator (30-40 lbs). I'm working on potty training, walk well on a leash and am learning basic commands. Since I'm a herding dog, training and exercise will be important for my mental health and yours. I'm super motivated by praise and treats, so training will be easy. My favorite times are play time and snuggle time. I love being near my people, and sleep quietly all night on a bed in my foster mom's room. I especially love balls, chews and toys. I love playing with my furry fosters and the 7 year old I live with. I'm tolerant of dog savvy cats and the squirrels don't really interest me. I do have a medical condition called mitral valve regurgitation, which is a common canine heart condition. That means I won't be quite as active as most heeler pups would be, and eventually I may need medication. Otherwise, it will have very little impact on my health or day to day life. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
