Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Winnie is about 11-12 months of age. She appears to be Shepherd/Terrier mix of some sort. She is medium sized and coloring is tan with white. Winnie was surrendered to our shelter with a lot of information we will share: She is sweet, cuddly and playful. Likes adults and is good with babies. She cuddled with her previous owner's grandson. Just a very loveable girl. She gets attached easy to her humans. Winnie doesn't like being on a leash, so will need training. According to Winnie's previous owner, Winnie is house trained, and knows commands 'Sit' and 'Stay'. Amarillo SPCA, 11901 S. Coulter. 806-622-0555. Open Tues.-Sat. from 12 to 5 p.m.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
