Description

Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (long coat). Meet Lucas, a handsome 4-year-old, 64-pound Siberian Husky who has been waiting for a second chance since 7/1/26. This lovable owner surrender is ready to trade his kennel for a couch—and one look at his adorable, extra-floofy curled tail will have you falling in love! Lucas is a total gentleman. He’s completely house trained and keeps his kennel spotless, heading straight outside for potty breaks before enjoying a good sniffari. He walks nicely on leash, knows sit and paw, and is an expert treat catcher! He loves Kongs, treats, and soaking up all the affection and pets he can get. Lucas has also participated in shelter playgroup, as always slow intros with resident dogs after an appropriate decompression period is recommended. Lucas is believed to have resource guarding tendencies, so he’ll do best with an adopter or foster who is willing to provide the structure and management to help him succeed. With the right person, there’s every reason to believe Lucas can continue to thrive. After more than a month in the shelter, Lucas urgently needs a place to decompress and feel safe. He must leave the shelter by 8/11. If you’ve been looking for a loyal, affectionate Husky with great manners and a heart full of love, please don’t let Lucas run out of time. He deserves the chance to show what an incredible companion he can be. ? Please note: The shelter can be a stressful and scary place, and a dog’s behavior here may not fully reflect how they’ll blossom once they feel safe and decompressed at home. Lucas is available for adoption or foster at: Prince George’s County Animal Services 3750 Brown Station Rd Upper Marlboro, MD 20772 facebook/pgcpets4us Reel: .instagram/reel/Dbro_W4MpQk/ 24petconnect/PGEOADOPT/Details/PGEO/A571811

Siberian Husky

A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:

The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
