Description
Dog Breed: Rottweiler (medium coat). Meet Peppa- Peppa came to us after being dumped in very rough shape along with several of her dog siblings, and despite such a difficult start she has been getting better every single day. When Peppa is in a calm space she blossoms; she prefers to approach new people at her own pace and does wonderfully when interactions are slow and soft. She enjoys toys, and is responsive to commands. Peppa is a genuinely a sweet girl who is learning to trust more each day; with her gentle nature and desire to connect, she is ready for a patient, loving home. Because of her fearful and unsure moments, she would do best in a home without younger children and with someone who can offer a quiet environment, understanding, and the steady reassurance sheâs never truly had until now. If you are interested in meeting Peppa, please visit the shelter during open adoption hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 10 AMâ12:30 PM & 2 PMâ4 PM Thursday: 10 AMâ12:30 PM & 2 PMâ6:30 PM Saturday: 9 AMâ1 PM If you do not own your home, please bring written consent from the property owner allowing a dog on the property. If you have another dog at home, please plan to bring them for a meet-and-greet before completing the adoption. Adoption fees: 6 months and younger: $250 7 monthsâ5 years: $200 6â10 years: $150 11 years and older: $100 Watch for adoption specials! Overview:
The Rottweiler is a powerful and intelligent breed, originating in Germany where they were primarily used to drive cattle and guard property. Physically, they are robust dogs, instantly recognizable by their medium-large size, strong build, and striking black coat with distinct tan markings, particularly on the muzzle, chest, and legs. Their temperament, when properly socialized and trained, is one of unwavering loyalty and confidence; they are known for being calm and courageous, making them excellent guardians. While generally good with children within their own family, their protective instincts mean they require supervision with strangers. Due to their size and need for regular exercise and mental stimulation, Rottweilers are generally not ideal for apartment living and thrive in homes with secure yards. Health-wise, they can be predisposed to conditions such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as certain heart conditions, necessitating responsible breeding practices and regular veterinary check-ups.
