Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (medium coat). Georgie came in as a stray, so we are still learning about her. We believe she may be just under a year old. She is a mixed breed, hard to say what she's mixed with. After her vet visit we will have a better idea on her age. Currently she weighs 52 pounds, we don't expect her to get any larger . Georgie met the office cat today and Georgie just moved away from the cat without any fuss. She hung out with one of the other shelter dogs in the play yard and they got along just fine. Are you ready for a camping, hiking, or jogging partner? Georgie is ready to meet you! All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and spayed or neutered (if they are ol d enough) before they leave the shelter. If the dog is not old enough, you will be given a voucher for Animal Medical Center in Emmett to cover the cost of the spay or neuter. Please fill out an application if you are interested in this dog or call us today for more information. Because we are an all-volunteer organization, please call ahead to schedule a time for a Meet & Greet so we can ensure a dog handler is available to show you the dog or dogs you are interested in. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
