Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 385.00. Meet Hachi, a 1-year-old sweetheart who's proving that not all young huskies are chaos incarnate. Despite being only a year old, Hachi is sweet and surprisingly not over the top—a rare find in the husky world. Hachi is doing great and loving his outings with our San Antonio volunteers. He's dog friendly and has been showing off his easygoing personality every chance he gets. We're still learning about Hachi, but so far, he's impressing everyone with his balanced energy and gentle nature. This young boy is looking for a foster home where he can continue to grow and show us more of what makes him special. If you're ready to help Hachi on his journey to finding his forever family, he'd love to meet you.

Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
