Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever (medium coat). Her Tail Never Stopped Wagging Mischief's story hasn't been an easy one, but you would never know it from the way her tail wags. When she first arrived at the shelter, she was underweight and had a long road ahead of her. Then came kennel cough, which kept her waiting even longer for the chance to simply enjoy being a dog. Now she's healthy, feeling stronger, and more than ready to begin the next chapter of her life. This sweet girl greets people with a constantly wagging tail and a hopeful heart. She may be a little shy at first, but give her a little time and you'll see her playful side begin to shine. Mischief loves leisurely sniffy walks, walks beautifully on leash, knows `sit,` and is happily motivated by treats. More than anything, Mischief is ready to leave the shelter behind. She's ready for soft beds instead of kennel floors, peaceful mornings instead of barking, and a family who will remind her every day that she's finally home. If you're looking for a gentle companion with a resilient spirit and a heart full of love, Mischief is waiting to meet you. When Mischief first arrived at our shelter, she seemed to enjoy being in our shelter playgroups and have fun with dog friends. But shelter life has taken its toll on our sweet girl and she no longer wants to be with other dogs. At this point we think she may be happiest as your one and only dog, or she may be able to live with other dogs if their person is dog savvy and is able to integrate them slowly over time. This is Mischief when she first arrived at our shelter in our playgroups: To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!

Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
